Honour True Beauty... Not Plastic

We've all done it... taken a look at Kim Kardashian and wished you had her (Fill in the blank).

it's not because we don't know better about the advertising and entertainment industry... that every image is altered to an unrealistic standard; that even the fitness moguls alter their picture before posting them on Instagram and Facebook. Making tinier waists, thicker bums and perfect tone from the click of a mouse or touch of a button. Then we turn around to think that is how we are supposed to look. Holding our bodies to the unnecessary standards laid out by someone else's view of beauty.

What about those classic beauties that were once honoured? Miss Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe, Josephine Baker, Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge, just to name a few.

It is time to rebuild the connection between ourselves and the true beauty that exists within. The beauty that can be an example to our children who need to understand that a woman's value is not on how skinny she can be, but on her power to change the world one small act of courage at a time. To be brave enough to be yourself and let the uniqueness of character be her reason for standing out in a crowd.

Let's transform our bodies by transforming our view of beauty. Because in truth, no matter how beautiful you are to another, if you cannot see, you will always be searching for that perfect cream or that perfect diet or weight-loss program, and only finding temporary results.

Fact of the matter is... Your body has this divine intelligence that knows what it desires to eat, the way it desires to move, and the shape it desires to become. One aspect of all humans that appears to be universal, the desire to dance. It is in every culture for thousands of years. The music within our souls becomes connected to the universe through the movement of the body. What a blessing!

That is what we want to help you do as a Lady of the Sycamore. Using the postures of yoga and the fluidity of dance, join us in the yogi dance evolution journey building a community of women and building a foundation of knowledge to continue the path of self creation.

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning how to dance in the rain"- Vivian Greene
